On April-21st-2015 Google announced their mobile-friendly update to the Google search algorithm. Google is now giving mobile-friendly websites higher rankings in the search results. The mobile-friendly update is focused on improving mobile ease-of-use on the web, so that highly ranked web pages are readable without zooming, tapping, or horizontal scrolling. “Today’s the day we begin globally rolling out our mobile-friendly update,” Google said in a blog post Tuesday April 21st. “Now searchers can more easily find high quality and relevant results where text is readable without tapping or zooming, tap targets are spaced appropriately, and the page avoids unplayable content or horizontal scrolling.” Unlike the Google Penguin and Panda updates that penalized websites for bad SEO practices and duplicate content, the Google mobile-friendly update is focused on improving people’s experience on the web. The Google mobile-friendly update is relevant to all websites, not just retailers, and will benefit anyone accessing the web through a mobile device. Is your webstore mobile-friendly?
