Microsoft Dynamics RMS eCommerce Integration
Integrate your physical store point of sale system with an eCommerce site
Managing store inventory and handling customer information can be a difficult process and your eCommerce strategy should not be taken lightly; it’s as important as your store location, merchandise or personnel.
Today, the vast majority of eCommerce solutions on the market can't integrate with a physical store, doubling the amount of time spent on data entry and inventory management.
Now you can integrate your local RMS Store Operations point of sale system with an online store like X-Cart, OScommerce or a customized solution. By using Web Integrator in conjunction with the Kosmos Web Service, you will have the ability to update inventory and download orders to your RMS and thus increase efficiency, enhance productivity, reduce operating costs, and boost overall customer satisfaction.
How the Kosmos RMS eCommerce solution works:
There are four key components that communicate with each other.
- RMS Store Operations Software
- Web Integrator from Newest Technologies
- Kosmos Web Service
- X-Cart Shopping cart software (or other supported cart)
RMS Store Operations runs on a server within your physical store and is used to manage and fulfill customer orders. The Web Integrator is another piece of software that runs on your RMS server by Newestech. After it’s configured to communicate with the Kosmos Web Service and a schedule set, the Web Integrator doesn’t have to be touched anymore and will run in the background. You can set your schedule to communicate with the Kosmos Web Service every few minutes or every hour. The Kosmos Web Service is Kosmos’s proprietary code that is installed within the X-Cart shopping cart software and communicates with X-Cart and the Web Integrator. At this time the Web Integrator will push up to the Kosmos Web Service all product information from the RMS database, including, descriptions, pictures, pricing, inventory count etc. The Kosmos Web Service will then parse the new data into the X-Cart database and update any changes to the products. The Web Integrator at the same time will also ask the Web Service by Kosmos if there are any new orders to download into RMS. The store owner at the time of receiving a new order will get a notification (chime, balloon pop up etc.) based on their preferences. Customers who have purchased on the website will also get an invoice that can be printed from the website along with a copy sent to their email. Then the whole cycle starts again at the next scheduled interval.
